العاديات

وَٱلْعَـٰدِيَـٰتِ ضَبْحًا ١

Wal-ʿādiyāti ḍabḥan

By the charging steeds that pant

فَٱلْمُورِيَـٰتِ قَدْحًا ٢

Fal-mūriyāti qadḥan

And strike sparks with their hooves,

فَٱلْمُغِيرَٰتِ صُبْحًا ٣

Fal-mughīrāti ṣub'ḥan

Who make dawn raids,

فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِۦ نَقْعًا ٤

Fa-atharna bihi naqʿan

Raising a cloud of dust,

فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِۦ جَمْعًا ٥

Fawasaṭna bihi jamʿan

And plunging into the midst of the enemy,

إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لِرَبِّهِۦ لَكَنُودٌ ٦

Inna l-insāna lirabbihi lakanūdun

Man is ungrateful to his Lord––

وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌ ٧

Wa-innahu ʿalā dhālika lashahīdun

And He is witness to this––

وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ ٨

Wa-innahu liḥubbi l-khayri lashadīdun

He is truly excessive in his love of wealth.

۞ أَفَلَا يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِى ٱلْقُبُورِ ٩

Afalā yaʿlamu idhā buʿ'thira mā fī l-qubūri

Does he not know that when the contents of graves burst forth,

وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِى ٱلصُّدُورِ ١٠

Waḥuṣṣila mā fī l-ṣudūri

When the secrets of hearts are uncovered, on that Day,
