Ta Ha

مَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ لِتَشْقَىٰٓ ٢

Mā anzalnā ʿalayka l-qur'āna litashqā

It was not to distress you [Prophet] that We sent down the Quran to you,

إِلَّا تَذْكِرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰ ٣

Illā tadhkiratan liman yakhshā

But as a reminder for those who hold God in awe,

تَنزِيلًا مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ ٱلْعُلَى ٤

Tanzīlan mimman khalaqa l-arḍa wal-samāwāti l-ʿulā

A revelation from the One who created the earth and the high heaven,

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ عَلَى ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱسْتَوَىٰ ٥

Al-raḥmānu ʿalā l-ʿarshi is'tawā

The Lord of Mercy, established on the throne.

لَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَمَا تَحْتَ ٱلثَّرَىٰ ٦

Lahu mā fī l-samāwāti wamā fī l-arḍi wamā baynahumā wamā taḥta l-tharā

Everything in the heavens and on earth, everything between them, everything beneath the soil, belongs to Him.

وَإِن تَجْهَرْ بِٱلْقَوْلِ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلسِّرَّ وَأَخْفَى ٧

Wa-in tajhar bil-qawli fa-innahu yaʿlamu l-sira wa-akhfā

Whatever you may say aloud, He knows what you keep secret and what is even more hidden.

ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ لَهُ ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ٨

Al-lahu lā ilāha illā huwa lahu l-asmāu l-ḥus'nā

God––there is no god but Him––the most excellent names belong to Him.

وَهَلْ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ ٩

Wahal atāka ḥadīthu mūsā

Has the story of Moses come to you [Prophet]?

إِذْ رَءَا نَارًا فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ ٱمْكُثُوٓا۟ إِنِّىٓ ءَانَسْتُ نَارًا لَّعَلِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِقَبَسٍ أَوْ أَجِدُ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ هُدًى ١٠

Idh raā nāran faqāla li-ahlihi um'kuthū innī ānastu nāran laʿallī ātīkum min'hā biqabasin aw ajidu ʿalā l-nāri hudan

He saw a fire and said to his people, ‘Stay here––I can see a fire. Maybe I can bring you a flaming brand from it or find some guidance there.’
