Hha-meem
Ha Mim
تَنزِيلٌ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ ٢
Tanzīlun mina l-raḥmāni l-raḥīmi
A revelation from the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy;
كِتَـٰبٌ فُصِّلَتْ ءَايَـٰتُهُۥ قُرْءَانًا عَرَبِيًّا لِّقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ ٣
Kitābun fuṣṣilat āyātuhu qur'ānan ʿarabiyyan liqawmin yaʿlamūna
A Scripture whose verses are made distinct as a Quran in Arabic for people who understand,
بَشِيرًا وَنَذِيرًا فَأَعْرَضَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ ٤
Bashīran wanadhīran fa-aʿraḍa aktharuhum fahum lā yasmaʿūna
Giving good news and warning. Yet most of them turn away and so do not hear.
وَقَالُوا۟ قُلُوبُنَا فِىٓ أَكِنَّةٍ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَآ إِلَيْهِ وَفِىٓ ءَاذَانِنَا وَقْرٌ وَمِنۢ بَيْنِنَا وَبَيْنِكَ حِجَابٌ فَٱعْمَلْ إِنَّنَا عَـٰمِلُونَ ٥
Waqālū qulūbunā fī akinnatin mimmā tadʿūnā ilayhi wafī ādhāninā waqrun wamin bayninā wabaynika ḥijābun fa-iʿ'mal innanā ʿāmilūna
They say, ‘Our hearts are encased against [the faith] you call us to; our ears are heavy; there is a barrier between us and you. So you do whatever you want, and so shall we.’
قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ أَنَّمَآ إِلَـٰهُكُمْ إِلَـٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ فَٱسْتَقِيمُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوهُ ۗ وَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُشْرِكِينَ ٦
Qul innamā anā basharun mith'lukum yūḥā ilayya annamā ilāhukum ilāhun wāḥidun fa-is'taqīmū ilayhi wa-is'taghfirūhu wawaylun lil'mush'rikīna
Say [Prophet], ‘I am only a mortal like you, [but] it has been revealed to me that your God is One. Take the straight path to Him and seek His forgiveness. Woe to the idolaters,
ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَهُم بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ هُمْ كَـٰفِرُونَ ٧
Alladhīna lā yu'tūna l-zakata wahum bil-ākhirati hum kāfirūna
Who do not pay the prescribed alms and refuse to believe in the world to come!
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ ٨
Inna alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti lahum ajrun ghayru mamnūnin
Those who believe and do good deeds will have a reward that never fails.’
۞ قُلْ أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَكْفُرُونَ بِٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلْأَرْضَ فِى يَوْمَيْنِ وَتَجْعَلُونَ لَهُۥٓ أَندَادًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٩
Qul a-innakum latakfurūna bi-alladhī khalaqa l-arḍa fī yawmayni watajʿalūna lahu andādan dhālika rabbu l-ʿālamīna
Say, ‘How can you disregard the One who created the earth in two Days? How can you set up other gods as His equals? He is the Lord of all the worlds!’
وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ مِن فَوْقِهَا وَبَـٰرَكَ فِيهَا وَقَدَّرَ فِيهَآ أَقْوَٰتَهَا فِىٓ أَرْبَعَةِ أَيَّامٍ سَوَآءً لِّلسَّآئِلِينَ ١٠
Wajaʿala fīhā rawāsiya min fawqihā wabāraka fīhā waqaddara fīhā aqwātahā fī arbaʿati ayyāmin sawāan lilssāilīna
He placed solid mountains on it, blessed it, measured out its varied provisions for all who seek them––all in four Days.
