النازعات

وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ غَرْقًا ١

Wal-nāziʿāti gharqan

By the forceful chargers

وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ نَشْطًا ٢

Wal-nāshiṭāti nashṭan

Raring to go,

وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ سَبْحًا ٣

Wal-sābiḥāti sabḥan

Sweeping ahead at full stretch,

فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ سَبْقًا ٤

Fal-sābiqāti sabqan

Overtaking swiftly

فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْرًا ٥

Fal-mudabirāti amran

To bring the matter to an end,

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ ٦

Yawma tarjufu l-rājifatu

On the Day when the blast reverberates

تَتْبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ ٧

Tatbaʿuhā l-rādifatu

And the second blast follows,

قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ ٨

Qulūbun yawma-idhin wājifatun

Hearts will tremble

أَبْصَـٰرُهَا خَـٰشِعَةٌ ٩

Abṣāruhā khāshiʿatun

And eyes will be downcast.

يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِى ٱلْحَافِرَةِ ١٠

Yaqūlūna a-innā lamardūdūna fī l-ḥāfirati

They say, ‘What? shall we be brought back to life,
