المطففين

وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ ١

Waylun lil'muṭaffifīna

Woe to those who give short measure,

ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ ٢

Alladhīna idhā ik'tālū ʿalā l-nāsi yastawfūna

Who demand of other people full measure for themselves,

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ ٣

Wa-idhā kālūhum aw wazanūhum yukh'sirūna

But give less than they should when it is they who weigh or measure for others!

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ ٤

Alā yaẓunnu ulāika annahum mabʿūthūna

Do these people not realize that they will be raised up

لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ٥

Liyawmin ʿaẓīmin

On a mighty Day,

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ٦

Yawma yaqūmu l-nāsu lirabbi l-ʿālamīna

A Day when everyone will stand before the Lord of the Worlds?

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ ٧

Kallā inna kitāba l-fujāri lafī sijjīnin

No indeed! The list of the wicked is in Sijjin––

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ ٨

Wamā adrāka mā sijjīnun

What will explain to you what Sijjin is?––

كِتَـٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ ٩

Kitābun marqūmun

A clearly numbered list.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ١٠

Waylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīna

Woe on that day to the deniers,
