الأعلى

سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى ١

Sabbiḥi is'ma rabbika l-aʿlā

[Prophet], glorify the name of your Lord the Most High,

ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ٢

Alladhī khalaqa fasawwā

Who created [all things] in due proportion;

وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ ٣

Wa-alladhī qaddara fahadā

Who determined their destinies and guided them;

وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ ٤

Wa-alladhī akhraja l-marʿā

Who brought out the green pasture

فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ ٥

Fajaʿalahu ghuthāan aḥwā

Then made it dark debris.

سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ ٦

Sanuq'ri-uka falā tansā

[Prophet], We shall teach you [the Quran] and you will not forget––

إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ ٧

Illā mā shāa l-lahu innahu yaʿlamu l-jahra wamā yakhfā

Unless God wishes; He knows both what is open and what is hidden––

وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ ٨

Wanuyassiruka lil'yus'rā

We shall show you the easy way.

فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ ٩

Fadhakkir in nafaʿati l-dhik'rā

So remind, if reminding will help.

سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ ١٠

Sayadhakkaru man yakhshā

Those who stand in awe of God will heed the reminder,
