Ad-Duhaa
Makkah
Wal-ḍuḥā
By the morning brightness
Wa-al-layli idhā sajā
And by the night when it grows still,
Mā waddaʿaka rabbuka wamā qalā
Your Lord has not forsaken you [Prophet], nor does He hate you,
Walalākhiratu khayrun laka mina l-ūlā
And the future will be better for you than the past;
Walasawfa yuʿ'ṭīka rabbuka fatarḍā
Your Lord is sure to give you so much that you will be well satisfied.
Alam yajid'ka yatīman faāwā
Did He not find you an orphan and shelter you?
Wawajadaka ḍāllan fahadā
Did He not find you lost and guide you?
Wawajadaka ʿāilan fa-aghnā
Did He not find you in need and make you self-sufficient?
Fa-ammā l-yatīma falā taqhar
So do not be harsh with the orphan
Wa-ammā l-sāila falā tanhar
And do not chide the one who asks for help;
