الشرح

أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ ١

Alam nashraḥ laka ṣadraka

Did We not relieve your heart for you [Prophet],

وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ ٢

Wawaḍaʿnā ʿanka wiz'raka

And remove the burden

ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ ٣

Alladhī anqaḍa ẓahraka

That weighed so heavily on your back,

وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ ٤

Warafaʿnā laka dhik'raka

And raise your reputation high?

فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ٥

Fa-inna maʿa l-ʿus'ri yus'ran

So truly where there is hardship there is also ease;

إِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ٦

Inna maʿa l-ʿus'ri yus'ran

Truly where there is hardship there is also ease.

فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَٱنصَبْ ٧

Fa-idhā faraghta fa-inṣab

The moment you are freed [of one task] work on,

وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَٱرْغَب ٨

Wa-ilā rabbika fa-ir'ghab

And turn to your Lord for everything.
